This older home is well cared for and loved and has been home to many families on sabbatical research in Kyoto. It is not a "historic" home, and not "huge" but quite comfortable and convenient. Ready to move in (bedding, towels, dishes, heaters, fans, furniture, etc. provided)--all you need bring are your clothes, toys and research materials. Perfect for a family of four, (three bedrooms up) but can accommodate more depending on ages of the children. Storage room on 2nd floor can hold suitcases to keep closets free for other storage. Perfect for a semester or year-long sabbatical research jaunt in Japan. Near to universities (Doshisha, Kyoto University), shopping, local elementary and middle schools, restaurants, Kamo River, Botanical gardens, and only a short bus ride (15 min) from Kyoto International School. Four bicycles for use on premises. Quiet neighborhood with parks and nature at your doorstep--though no garden or outdoor space to speak of at the house--only a small area below for drying laundry and small potted plants. Office on first floor has two desks, bookshelves and high speed internet reaches throughout the house. Home gets plenty of light and air. Upper floor can be warm in summer (but also warmed by sun in winter). Downstairs stays cooler in summer (but can also be colder in winter). Heaters and fans for every room of the house. No Television or antenna, but high speed internet makes anything available. 3 month is a minimum stay. All utilities included (internet, water, gas, electric, water). JAPANESE LANGUSGE COMPETENCY. And FORMER EXPERIENCE LIVING IN JAPAN are required for perspective tenants, as maintaining good relations with the neighbors is essential. Renters must be willing to make arrangements for anything that may need fixed in the house during their stay. Any costs will deducted from rent. Name and contact of regular maintenance company will be provided.
