Berkeley home for rent from mid August - end of June (dates slightly flexible, will do our best to accommodate). This 3 bedroom/2 full bath in the heart of the bustling Gilman district is available while its owners are on the east coast for a temporary faculty position This home has been lovingly cared for and updated with many ecofriendly features and has large front and back yards, abundant garden (and room for you to garden if you like), fruit trees, a treehouse studio perched in a redwood, and more. Solar, rainwater catchment, natural paint, blue jean insulation, bamboo and cork floors, efficient windows, and other sustainable design elements create a small footprint. We are particularly hopeful that we will find renters who share an eco-conscious lifestyle. The master ensuite bedroom is a good size with a walk-in closet and a sliding door to a small deck. The master bath with shower has beautiful custom river rock and slate tile. The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms are modestly sized with ample closet space and can be set up as some combination of guest room, kids room, or office depending on your needs. The second bathroom is off of the family room and has a shower over tub. The back hall (bonus room) has new bosch front loading W/D and a desk space, and leads to the large patio and backyard. Please note, this home does not have a microwave or TV (though you are welcome to bring them in!). Bike storage, grill, swing set, sand box, patio furniture available. Dedicated parking space in driveway and second tandem spot available. House is furnished with mostly real wood furniture, shabby chic style! It is comfortable and functional, but not fancy. (Please note, garage and shed are used as owner storage and are off limits to tenants). Tenant responsible for utilities (gas and electric, water, internet). House is set up for high speed sonic wifi. Owner pays garbage and landscaping. The neighborhood: *Within a few blocks of Italian, Thai, Mexican, Gourmet Vegan, Whole Foods, Philz Coffee, ACME bread, Three Local Breweries and Wine Tasting Rooms, and more *2 blocks to James Kenney Park, huge playground, sports fields, and rec center *2 blocks to bus stop for UC Berkeley campus (Bus 52) *3 blocks to live music at Ashkenaz Music and Dance Center and 924 Gilman *5 blocks to shopping on 4th Street, North Face Outlet, Royal Robbin and more *~2 miles to UC Berkeley Campus *The train whistles are loud in these parts (but you will become accustomed to them!) *Zoned for top-rated Berkeley schools (a few choice elementary schools in walking distance ~.5 mile, King Middle School ~1 mile, and Berkeley High ~2 miles) Transportation: *2 blocks to the 52 bus stop (UC Berkeley) *7 blocks to N. Berkeley Bart *The Berkeley flats are very bike-friendly, the Berkeley Bicycle Boulevard runs right past our house *easy access to HWY 80 House available early/mid August - end June or early July.
