We are a German-American couple, both working in academia and living in the U.S. most of the time. Our Berlin flat is available for visiting scholars/academics and their families on sabbatical when we don’t use it. While retaining its pre-war charm with high ceilings and original hardwood floors, the apartment has been fully updated and offers a comfortable home away from home in the highly sought after Halensee neighborhood of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf. Availability is generally for the duration of 1 semester, possibly 2 if it works out with our travel schedule. My mother lives in the same building, will meet you for move-in/move-out, and is available in case of any concerns. • 2nd floor of a pre-war building on a tree lined street; playground on adjacent lot • Fully furnished and includes 2 separate bedrooms, a large living room, eat-in kitchen, 1 full and 1 half bathroom • The main bedroom has a king-sized bed, the second smaller bedroom has twin sized bunk beds, both have closets. • The living room has a spacious seating area, flat-screen TV and a separate large table that can be used as a desk. • The modern open kitchen is fully equipped with refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, microwave/oven combination, toaster, coffee maker, water heater, cooking utensils and dishes. It includes a dining area with seating for up to 8 people. • Both bathrooms are updated and accessible from the common areas. There is one full bathroom (toilet/sink/shower) and one powder room, plus separate laundry room with sink and washer/dryer. • Location: Halensee neighborhood with many supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, bakeries and shops in short walking distance and easy access to public transportation. The neighborhood is nestled between the Grunewald area with its elegant mansions and expansive woodlands and the bustling West Berlin city center with the Ku’damm as its main shopping boulevard. • Easy access to the museums and major tourist attractions of the West and East Berlin city centers. You will be within 20 to 30min (on public transit or bike) to the Freie Universität, Technische Universität or Universität der Künste. The closest S-Bahn train station is Halensee (5 minute walk), closest U-Bahn station is Adenauer Platz (7 minute walk), the nearest bus stop and a taxi station are located on the corner. • Utilities: Wireless internet is set up and is included in the rental price, as well as other utilities incl. water, gas and electric. •. our trusted cleaning person will come every 2 weeks for maintenance cleaning (bathrooms, kitchen, floors), there is no additional charge for this service • 1/2 month rent will be held as security deposit and returned in full if there is no damage to structures or furniture at move-out.
