Local Life in North Kyoto (60m2): Every thing you need on your doorstep!

We (Tomoko & Francesco) are New Zealand Registered teachers. Tomoko works as a teacher in Japan and New Zealand. And Francesco works at Nara Medical University (it's really far away!). He has previously worked for Kyoto University, Ritsumeikan and Doshisha (all close by). We have run a fully licensed AirBnB Guest house for many years, and now we want to welcome guests to our apartment. The apartments were designed for Francesco's family. The building is 3 storeys high with outdoor stairs. Each apartment is fully self-contained. The second-floor apartment has a separate bedroom, a living-dining-kitchen, and a small shower and toilet. There is a washing machine on the balcony. The apartment is 60m2, so while it's simple, it is big for a one-bedroom apartment. When we are in Kyoto, we stay on the third floor and are available to help where we can (over the years we have had a lot of guests and made more than a few bookings at restaurants or even local medical clinics. The closest is actually across the road). The apartment is very quiet due to its concrete and steel construction and quadruple glazing. Kyoto has very extreme seasons, so you will enjoy the warmth and cool that our fully air-conditioned apartment offers! Our neighbourhood is a real gem. Kyoto is now a bit of a tourist trap, and the central city can be a bit much at times, but the north end of Kyoto city is famous for its culture and livability! This is where Japanese locals want to live! The restaurants are listed in the Michelin Guide (not Michelin-starred... These restaurants are actually affordable). There are supermarkets, laundromats, convenience stores, buses, subways, local tofu shops, and veggie shops. You name it, everything is within walking distance! We love it here! We brought up our son here (he went to the French international school and the local elementary and junior high schools), and we would love to help you experience everything we love about living in a real Kyoto neighbourhood.
