Beautifully decorated three bedroom house in sought-after Newnham

Our lovely home is available sporadically - mostly weekends and holidays - to a visiting academic or couple who wish to have access to the University of Cambridge libraries and colleges. Rent is £250/night, minimum two night stay. Situated in the exclusive area of Newnham, our small but well-presented house is 15-20 minutes from the centre of Cambridge on foot, and a ten minute taxi ride from the train station. Trains run regularly to London, King’s Cross being a 50 minute direct journey. Newnham is a green and peaceful neighbourhood, populated by families and academics, with parks and the famous Grantchester meadows steps away. The neighbourhood has two great shops just outside the door, a French bakery and a lively pub. (We’re very fond of the Tuesday evening pub quiz run by a former Cambridge University historian!) Our house is light and airy with a pale palette, decorated in a Scandinavian style and furnished with a large oval marble table, comfortable l-shaped sofa, original art and a medium sized, slightly older television. We have a small but well-equipped kitchen with narrow dishwasher, stove and microwave, fridge/freezer, washer and dryer. There is an old fashioned radio in the kitchen but I’m afraid the radio in the living room is stuck on BBC Radio 4 (for some this might be perfect!) There is a good-sized master bedroom at the front of the house with low superking Vispring bed and mattress, and two smaller bedrooms with king-size Emma mattresses. All bedding is comprised of white linen and there are waffle spa towels. The bathroom was recently renovated, with shower over bath, decorative tiles, sink and toilet. There is a small garden at the back of the house which is adequate but not exceptional. Bicycles may be kept there or rented daily from Lammas Land, a five minute walk away. There are four cast iron bench seats in the garden and a small marble table with four chairs and a fire bowl. Our neighbours are friendly and mostly elderly, and we would only sublet the house to those who understand that this is a quiet neighbourhood. It is not suitable for groups, parties, pets or young children. However, for a visiting scholar or couple on holiday, we believe that our house would provide a comfortable, peaceful pied-a-terre, though the house will have all the signs of being lived in, with our belongings in drawers, cupboards and closets.
