Our family will be heading to Italy for a sabbatical for the 2026-27 academic year and we are renting our home during that time. Nestled in a peaceful neighborhood, our charming 100-year-old home has been lovingly renovated over the past decade. Updates include the addition of natural gas heating, improved insulation, modern lighting, and a new roof. The house is compact, with plenty of shade, which keeps it comfortably warm in the winter and refreshingly cool in the summer. Although there’s no air conditioning, we’ve found it unnecessary during the five years we’ve lived here. The living room is warm and inviting, a place where family and friends gather to relax, unwind, and enjoy the natural light streaming through the windows. It extends into the dining room which features a fireplace (unused) and a patio door that opens onto a small deck. The deck overlooks our serene backyard garden and includes a privacy fence, and a barbecue for outdoor gatherings. There is also patio furniture for your use as well. The kitchen is efficient and well-appointed, offering a door that connects to the dining room (which can be closed off for extra privacy when desired). Just beyond the kitchen is a mudroom, which leads down to the semi-finished basement. This versatile space includes a washing machine, additional storage, a television, and a pull-out couch, offering a convenient guest area when needed. Upstairs, you'll find three bedrooms. We have used all three as bedrooms but one could easily be converted into a home office or a creative space, depending on your needs. The bathroom, renovated when we purchased the home, blends modern updates with vintage charm. It’s a relaxing retreat with tasteful finishes, lots of storage space, and a waterfall shower head. This house is filled with natural light and adorned with artwork that adds a personal touch to every room. Its blend of historic character and modern comforts makes it a welcoming and cozy place to call home. The house is in a residential neighbourhood and on a bike route. The house is very close to a grocery store, parks, the Commons, Dalhousie University and it is easy to get downtown either by bike, car or on foot.
