Pretty bijou 1 bed flat

I went and hid out here while I was preparing for my viva. The flat is really beautiful, with a front room completely lined with books, a table and office chair for working, and a cozy bedroom away from the street. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful throughout my stay. The commute into Central London is relatively easy on the overground and Forest Hill Station is just a five minute walk away. There are some lovely restaurants and places to walk nearby too. Highly recommended.

This was a beautiful flat in a very convenient location relative to public transport, a nearby Sainsbury's, a number of restaurants and cafés, etc. The apartment was cozy and the hosts went above and beyond to ensure that I was comfortable during my stay, even taking the time to familiarize me with all of the amenties available upon my arrival. J Peakman was an incredibly gracious and charming host and it was a pleasure to rent from her. These were hands down the best accommodations I could have asked for during my trip, and I cannot recommend them highly enough.(And the price really can't be beat!)

As a place to stay in in London: perfect. Cozy, homey, bohemian; everything you need nearby; great hosts. Quiet neighborhood offers the chance to explore a neighborhood you might not know, Forest Hill, with all kinds of charms: the quirky Victorian Hardiman museum, great Sunday market and panoramic views of the city there, 50 miles of good hiking on the nearby Green Chain Walk. After a try or two, easy to get a handle on transportation to and from anything you want to visit in Central London. No problem getting back late at night. As a "sabbatical" place --e.g. for academics: even better. The hosts are brilliant historians, the flat packed with books floor to ceiling. I didn't want to leave. In my fantasies I'd just live there for good.

We stayed in this flat for 2 1/2 weeks 10/2024. Our hosts were charming and responsive, shepherding us through booking and transit and recommending sights and activities. Forest Hill is a leafy retreat from the city, but a swift train/tube ride to central London. The flat is cozy, quiet, and thoughtfully outfitted. There is an iron when you need to be presentable, and a bathrobe when you don't. The grocery is right across the street but basic supplies were provided to ensure our immediate relaxation. We truly enjoyed our stay and recommend this listing without qualification.

I had a lovely time writing my novel in the independent living space. The hosts were fabulous, even inviting me up for a bit and giving me tips on what to see and do. There are shops close by and places to eat. It was absolutely delightful.

If we have the next chance to do our sabbatical in London, we would like to come back to this flat again. My wife and I stayed in this wonderful house for a year and had nothing to complain about. This fact alone shows how much we liked this flat, but we are also pleased to say that we were very fortunate to have Julie and Jad, who were always kind, helpful, and intellectually stimulating. The house is located in an ideal area of South London both for doing research and for holidays: many big parks, local museums, galleries, shops, and pubs--all within walking distance or a short bus ride; good access to Central London and airports. Highly recommended!

I have only positive comments. Not only is this basement-studio comfortable and surprisingly spatious, but it is also full of books (mostly history and fiction), which makes it especially charming (and even potentially useful, dependending on your specialty...). Located in Forest Hill, conveniently in front of a Sainsbury's and a bus stop, surrounded by multiple food places, and a 3-minute walk from the train station. The host couple are extremely helpful and friendly.

This is a charming apartment in Forest Hill that is very close to transit, shops, and restaurants. I was there for two weeks and had a wonderful stay. The apartment is beautifully decorated and comfortable with lots of books to browse through and everything you need (good shower, washer/dryer, good kitchen). Julie was very helpful and quick to answer any questions. I will be recommending this place to my friends and colleagues.

Julie and Jad have created a perfect little oasis for anyone wanting to spend some time in London, be it on a sabbatical, for research, or a simple vacation. The flat is lovely and very comfortable, there's more books to read than you could ever want, a perfect amount of space for one or two people, and I felt very at home. Not to mention Julie and Jad are wonderful hosts and helped me with anything I might need. The area is perfect, an easy Tube (or bus) ride into London, but a lot of great food and things to do in walking distance of Forest Hill as well. I really enjoyed being able to go into London, but still feel like I got the experience of 'living outside' it. Forest Hill is a lovely place. I very highly recommend this flat (and Jad and Julie). After spending a little over two months here, I know I've gotten some great research done at the British Library, but also made two wonderful friends. I will be staying at this flat again on my next visit and I highly recommend you consider it as well if you're looking for a place to stay while visiting the London area.

My husband and I enjoyed this well-stocked flat, which has more books than even we could read. It's across the street from Sainsbury's, and steps from Forest Hill station (especially convenient if you're traveling via Gatwick). Julie & Jad are gracious hosts, and we'll be sure to stay here the next time we're in London.

Absolutely loved this little apartment with its amazing library, location and amenities. If you are looking for a great home base for your visit to London, this is it. Thanks Julie and Jad...we had an awesome time and looked forward to returning to this cozy apartment every night after a full day of touring London.

Julie was a very accommodating hostess and everything was as expected (or better). She sent us detailed directions and was there to welcome us, the apartment was ready for us and was more spacious than we had expected. It is quite large for a studio apartment and it was quite cozy. If you love reading, you will be very content here as there is a wonderful array of books on shelves throughout the apartment and it was just great for a book lover! Forest Hill is a nice area, with all the basics you need in terms of take away, groceries, laundromat, pubs and restaurants. There are many wonderful parks nearby and it is a great neighborhood for walkers/joggers. There is a lovely little museum up the street and a bit further, lovely park and art museum in Dulwich. The train station is basically across the street with a direct train to London Bridge and Overground service to quickly connect to downtown London. It is nice to have the neighborhood feel and be out a bit from the crowds of tourists, but yet be able to access all the sights of London easily.
