Very bright loft conversion in stylish late Victorian two-story terraced house in leafy North London. Situated in a quiet, safe, residential area, excellent with varied transport facilities (overground train, tube station 6mn walk & buses very close by). Friendly house share. I am the host & I also live here. There are usually maximum 3 people in the house and a very friendly cat. Delightful, bright, airy rooms, with bathroom en suite in both loft rooms ! Big kitchen with washing machine, microwave oven, cooker & all amenities (a good choice of cooking utensils). The house is nicely decorated & has a colourful bright European feel. Fully fitted carpet, parquet floors, furnished, writing desk, chairs, double wardrobe , armchair, fridge, kettle, microwave oven and high speed WiFi internet access. There are lovely views from all rooms over gardens. This is a very quiet environment, so ideal for research, study, writers, academics.... All rooms are extremely bright as there are 3 windows in the big room and one balcony glass door & two windows in the smaller room., one big window in the third room. There is also a ceiling Velux window from the staircase, which makes the staircase very light and bright. The photos are exactly what the rooms look like as I have been told by guests many times in fact, I am told the photos do not do it the credit it deserves.. which I take as a compliment ! Room One (pictures 2 to 5 with a balcony view): (with bathroom - shower), fridge, kettle, microwave oven (Rates: £345/week), electricity is extra. This room has its own meter & is on the 2nd floor. The room is free from 25th May 2026. A deposit equivalent of 2 weeks rent is required & handed back on departure. Room Two (pictures 6 to 8): with WC & big washbasin/ cabinet, desk, storage space (£310/week) all inclusive. It is on the 2nd floor. Shower in main bathroom. This room is free from 30th August 2026. Room Three (last picture, turquoise wall): available now (all bathroom facilities in main bathroom), (£295/week). This room also has a chest of drawers for the house linen. This room is free from 5th May 26. This room has no bathroom facilities. It is situated on the 1st floor. Please note that these rooms are not suitable for couples. Each room is for single occupancy only. A deposit of £50 is requested for short stays ( up to 3 weeks) for room 2 & 3, which is returned on departure. Other Details: 7 minutes walk to Bounds Green Tube Station (Piccadilly Line), 20 mn to Russell Square by tube, 10 mn walk to Bowes Park overground train station (goes to the City in 20 mn via Highbury & Islington) & bus stops 4 mn walk for Central London. Lovely coffee shops just by the tube station.. Walking proximity to 3 parks: Alexandra Palace grounds, Wonderful Broomfield park & Arnos park with tennis courts, Highgate Woods, Bowls & tennis courts club 400 yards, all very big & magical parks, superb for joggers. Numerous Yoga and Pilate classes, gym clubs all around us. Lovely Muswell Hill village (15mn bus ride) supermarkets (Waitrose, Marks & Spencers & Sainsbury's), local restaurants & take aways, super shopping area, also East Finchley nearby. Aldi is near us, 15mn walk, and Tesco express. The best Fish & Chip restaurant in London is here, Toffs ! Local shop is about 100 yards from the house. This is bordering Zone 3. Crouch End village is also within reach and three farmers markets ! There are also endless lovely coffee shops and patisseries where you can sit & work all day. Comfy, very clean and lovely household, well insulated inside and outside. Two weekly cleaning as an additional option, if you wish. Big purifying water system in the kitchen which removes fluoride, pesticides and toxins, great taste for coffee and tea! There is a lovely garden which is landscaped. You can enjoy the beautiful garden, British weather allowing ! Really good value for a lovely, friendly, comfortable home.

Had a fantastic stay at Laurie's place!

I stayed at Laurie's house in spring for 2 months.

- Organized: Laurie has managerd her house perfectly to make sure it is not only operating functionally and efficiently but also offering a comfortable living for tenants despite their different living habits and preferences.

- Clean: Like the organized manner the house is being taken care of, it is also very clean with regular cleanings in the house done by a kind cleaning lady.

- Convenience: Really appreicate it that Laurie provides all the essentials for me to move in, e.g, bedding, towel, etc., without the need of brining my own. This comes very handy if I check in late in the day. Easy commuting using the Tube to the city.

- Great company of two cats Pushkin and Vinci. I miss them!

Welcoming Stay with a Kind Host

I stayed at Laurie’s place for about a month, and it was a nice experience. She was respectful, clean, and mindful of house rules, creating a comfortable and welcoming environment. While the room I stayed in didn’t have a desk, she made sure I had a suitable space in the living room for my online meetings. Laurie has two adorable cats that I absolutely loved cuddling, which made my stay even more enjoyable. I also appreciated our evening chats over dinner, as she is a genuinely kind and friendly person. Her home is close to the metro station and easily accessible to my workplace, which was very convenient. I would definitely stay with her again. Thanks Laurie!

Short-term stay at Laurie's

Laurie has put a lot of effort into decorating her beautiful Victorian house! The space is comfortable and very tidy with a warm, inviting atmosphere. Laurie was welcoming and I appreciated the tranquil environment. She has two cuddly cats that spend most of their time in the garden.

The house is located in a quiet, leafy neighborhood, ideal for anyone looking to relax while still being close to central London. It's just a short walk to the tube station, making it easy and convenient to connect to other parts of the city. The area is lovely, with Muswell Hill village only a short bus ride away. I recommend Laurie’s home for anyone looking for a short-term stay in London!

I've spent 6 months in the smallest room of the house. I told this to Laurie and it remains true: I've had the best sleep of my life in that room! The bed, the pillows and the bedding were very comfortable, the neighborhood was unbelievably quiet and the temperature was always perfect: I was there during the winter and it was never too cold or too hot from the heating. I felt really safe in the neighborhood and there were many small shops nearby. Laurie is a great cook! She also likes having clear rules to keep things smooth & the environment clean, so I think you need to be that kind of person for it to be a good fit. The cats are absolutely adorable!

A memorable experience

It was a most memorable experience staying in this house! I am grateful to Laurie for giving me good suggestions about travelling and enjoying the neighbourhood. I have learnt a lot about how to live in a house - saving energy, keeping cleanliness and respecting the house rules. The most unexpected learning of all was to take care of a sick cat including injecting medicine in her mouth two times a day during the days when I was all alone with the cat. Above all, I still cannot articulate my ambivalence upon receiving a "present" that the cat had kindly given me one morning - a dead bird in the living room! I wish the cat a speedy recovery and I will make good use of these newly acquired life skills to create a better future in London!

Cozy little room in North London

I spent two weeks at Laurie's place in North-East London, a really nice and calm neighbourhood! Ahead of my stay as well as during the two weeks, Laurie was a very responsive and considerate host and I had a good time there. My room was under the roof and really quiet and comfortable. The toilet and wash basin in the room were very handy and the garden superb on warm days.

I stayed at Laurie’s house from July 1st to September 1st 2021. The location of the house is in a nice quiet and safe neighbourhood and is very convenient for commuting to central London on the Piccadilly and Victoria lines, or for taking the bus to the shops (and corona test) in Brent Cross shopping centre. I rented the room with en-suite bathroom. The room is quiet, cosy, bright with a nice view over the garden and other rooftops on London skyline. I had a private bathroom, wardrobe for my clothes, desk, and armchair in my room (In addition to a small fridge, microwave and kettle). Laurie is professional, friendly and we had many nice conversations. I had a comfortable and enjoyable time while in the house. Much recommended.

My daughter and I stayed here for 2,5 months and it was a great experience. Located just a couple minutes' walk of a bus stop and the tube Bounds Green Lauries home is within convenient walking distance to Broomfield Park, Broomfield School, two shops for daily goods and a nice cafe. Be sure to visit Amos Pub or Muswell Hill! It takes you around 25 min with the Picadelly line to Russell Square / University College of London (UCL). Lauries home is comfortable, cosy and tasefully furnished - you see and feel that she has decorated everything with care and passion. Both rooms are exactly as they appear in the photos. During our stay we could sit in the beautiful garden and relax. Laurie was a very considerate and responsive host which looks after her guests to feel home. Communication was excellent , sometimes we had dinner together and very nice conversations. Laurie made sure our stay went smoothly at every stage. We also miss her cat Pushkin!

Sabine and Lotti came to stay for a few months and unfortunatley had to go back earlier than planned.

It was lovely to have both of them there as they felt as if they were my family. So graceful, kind, generous,

giving and we had a few very enjoyable meals together. I was so happy to have them both in the house. I followed Lotti's settling in her new UK school and it was so enjoyable to discuss very interesting subjects about education and compare cultures. I was so sorry when they left. I do hope they can come back one day as i told them both that my house is their second residence in London !

I stayed at in the larger en-suite room at Laurie's place from May—August 2018. Laurie's place is spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. My room was light and airy, with a desk, generous storage for clothes, and a good hot shower. The garden is a beautiful place to hang out in summer. I stayed at Laurie’s house from April to August in 2018 during my first 4 months of London life. The location of the house is quite convenient for commuting to central London by the Piccadilly line, or for taking the bus to the shops in Muswell Hill. I have used the bicycle to commute to the center of London for the last 2 months. It takes around 45 min, but it was a journey quite refreshing and gives me time to think. I rented a small room that is cozy, quiet and has a nice view from the window. I had a private toilet, basin, clothes rack, and desk in my room. We shared a lovely dining room and a kitchen with a fridge. When the weather was nice I was able to eat breakfast at the table in her beautiful garden. The fluffy and pretty cat, Pushkin is our housemate, and she helps me to feel relaxed at the end of the day. The host, Laurie is wonderful, gentle, and friendly person. I had a really comfortable and enjoyable time in Laurie's house in that period.

Satoshi was a lovely guest to have in the house, very clean, very respectful and quiet.

I know it was difficult for him to be so far away fom his family but he was reunited with them after 4 months.

He bought himself a bicyle which he left in the garden and therefore was able to go to uni by bike which he enjoyed immensely and was proud to let me know the short cuts he found every day.

Satoshi settled extremely well in the house and was a delight to have in the house. He is welcome anytime!

Location Laurie's house is a great place to stay when in London, especially if you're heading to UCL, KCL or the BL as I was. A quick, safe walk to the Piccadilly line (zone 3) and a short ride, and you're there! As for groceries, the lovely Muswell Hill neighborhood is a 10-minute bus ride and has three grocery store options. A bit further is Turnpike Lane with lots of ethnic grocers for cheap produce if you like. Laurie is very helpful with getting oriented to all these options. As a runner I also appreciated the huge number of parks to run in nearby -- Arnos Park is lovely and connects to a whole park system, and Alexandra Palace makes for a nice hilly 4-mile loop. And if you really like to run, the trajectory from here to Hampstead Heath is awfully nice. Lodging I stayed in Room 1 which is sunlit and airy. It was nice to have an en suite bathroom, which is small but in great condition. Everything is very clean and well kept; in fact every two weeks a housekeeper cleans (including the shower, toilet, etc) which made for a very nice experience. The cute cat Pushkin comes to visit sometimes too :) Laurie Laurie is a terrific host-- she really goes out of her way to make you feel comfortable and welcome. For me that even included speaking French around the house (since I am a scholar of French literature). We had lots of laughs and Laurie is full of good advice about the neighborhood and London more largely. I will say that she appreciates having the shared spaces kept tidy and clean -- as I myself am tidy and clean I was happy that this was her preference and found it no problem, but if you are not a neatnick you may want to think about this. Bonus If the other room happens to be free, your friends and family can rent it to stay with you. My mother stayed with me briefly and really enjoyed having all the comforts of "home" while she was in London. Random Advice Best coffee shops nearby: La Dinette in Muswell Hill, Salt the Radish at Finsbury Park, and Campbell & Syme in East Finchley!

DATED 2017 I stayed at Laurie's house again this summer 2017. My stay was just as lovely and nice as the previous summer. I came to do research at the British Library and to attend a conference. As usual, Laurie was a wonderful host. She made me feel completely comfortable and at home in her house. We had some really fabulous weather and her garden was cool and inviting. She had completely redone her kitchen, so I got the benefit of all that newness. Her cat Pushkin was friendlier than ever - she actually remembered me and visited my room many times for purring and cuddles. I love animals, and cats, so this never bothered me but it is entirely possible to keep the cat out of your room if you want that for your stay. The house was completely clean and just a total joy in which to stay. I will be staying with Laurie again next summer 2018 and I really look forward to my stay. DATED 2016 I stayed at Laurie's house for 6.5 weeks this summer, 2016. I rented the top floor room (two flights of stairs up) with the full bathroom. I had an electric kettle and a small refrigerator in the room as well, for which I paid a bit extra as this room has its own electric meter. It was well worth it. The price for this room was incredibly reasonable, especially considering how expensive London is and in the summer too! The room was absolutely lovely, very bright and it had lots of wonderful, breezy ventilation. The bed is superb (so many aren't in England) and there is a very nice desk at which to work or you can also sit in the comfy chair that is provided. There is a big wardrobe, plenty of hangers, and lots of space to store everything. Cleaning is included in the rent, which was very nice as well. The shower had excellent water pressure and towels are provided. But most wonderful - especially for anyone doing research - is that Laurie is on the Piccadilly train line, which makes traveling extraordinarily convenient. I had to go to the British Library, daily, and this took me no more than 30 minutes. And sometimes even only 20 minutes at non-busy times. For the 6.5 weeks that I was there, I did spend quite a bit on transport. I have to agree with the other reviewer who mentioned 150 pounds. I spent at least that for the time I was there. But because the libraries were so convenient on the train line, the expense was well worth it. It is between a 7 - 10 minute walk to the Bounds Green tube station from Laurie's house. I didn't do much exploring of the neighborhood because my goal was to do as much research as possible at the British Library and the London School of Economics, but there is a nice corner store (Nisa) that is literally about 2 minutes from the house. You can't get everything there - and Muswell Hill is about a 15 minute bus ride (on the 102) away to a large Sainsbury's and other stores - but you can get some basic groceries, including some decent produce, eggs, dairy products and so on. I found some of the best coffee I've ever had - so that was a bonus as I had brought my French press with me. Laurie is a wonderful host! She is extremely laid back and friendly. I was able to easily use the kitchen, the pots and pans, and all the bowls, plates, and so on. I never felt like I was intruding on her space; she made me feel relaxed and not like a strange guest. I think that this is rare and it really made my stay a true joy. I had space for food in the refrigerator and the cupboards; again, this just makes it possible to live and enjoy life while being abroad. It is expensive to eat out, so having access to a kitchen is wonderful. The house includes a lovely back garden, which Laurie keeps up beautifully. The house is clean (spotless, really) and is very inviting. Her cat, Pushkin, is very sweet and friendly; she mostly likes her head scratched and rubbed, as I discovered during my time there. I would definitely stay with Laurie again if I return for another research trip to London.

I stayed at Laurie’s place for nine months, while visiting King’s College London. The house is a very nice terraced house with a small garden, in a quiet and safe neighbourhood. The house is really close to the tube station, but is located in a quiet street without too much traffic. The room itself is located on the second floor, it’s clean, well furnished and full of light. There’s also a small, but convenient, bathroom. You will not have to bother too much about cleaning, as cleaning of the room is included. The location of the house might seem remote from central London, but it is well connected by public transport. My commuting time from Laurie’s house to King’s Strand campus was around 40 minutes, door to door, which is quite reasonable by London’s standards. It would be even shorter to travel to University College. However, be ready to pay almost £150 per month for your travel card, as it is zone 3. In the neighbourhood there are different locations of interest, such a a friendly local pub (good food and beer), the beautiful Alexandra Park and its stunning view over London (20 min walking distance) and Muswell Hill village (10 min bus drive). Finally, and maybe most importantly, Laurie is friendly and easy to live with. This is a very welcoming home and I really enjoyed my stay. I will stay there again if I have to visit London again. Oh, and there’s a cat too. You will have your daily share of purr :)

Davy was delightful guest, very tidy, clean and a very good cook ! We had some good conversations in the kitchen as we cooked together. He also got on very well with Pushkin who decided that his room was hers as well.
