My name is Uma, and I am a Master’s student in Biomedical Sciences, preparing for an important academic chapter in my life. From August 15, 2026, to July 1, 2027, I will undertake a long-term research internship at Harvard Medical School in Boston. This opportunity marks a significant step in my academic and professional development, and I am therefore seeking a long-term, sabbatical-style home exchange in the Boston area. I approach a home exchange as a relationship built on mutual trust and responsibility. I am looking for someone who will care for my home with the same attention and respect that I will give to theirs. A home is not simply accommodation, but a personal space that deserves care and consideration. I live alone, am a non-smoker, and maintain a quiet, orderly lifestyle. There may be occasional short visits from my parents, who are discreet and respectful. I am flexible regarding the size of the home in Boston: it may be a studio, a one-bedroom apartment, or a larger property. What matters most to me is reliability, calm, and mutual respect. The Home Offered – Maastricht, The Netherlands My primary offer is my private apartment in Maastricht, located in one of the city’s most desirable and convenient areas. Maastricht is widely regarded as one of the most livable cities in the Netherlands and holds a unique place in Europe as the birthplace of the Maastricht Treaty, which laid the foundation for the European Union. The apartment itself is spacious, comfortable, and well equipped, making it ideal for a long-term stay, sabbatical, or remote work. Apartment details: Two bedrooms One bathroom A large, bright living room with a fully equipped open kitchen A very large walk-in wardrobe, offering exceptional storage space Washer and dryer in the apartment Secure bike storage, with a bicycle available for use A large projector for films and presentations Superfast, reliable Wi-Fi, ideal for research, remote work, and video calls The apartment is designed for everyday comfort as well as focused academic work, combining generous living space with practical functionality. Maastricht – An Ideal European Base Maastricht is an exceptional base for exploring Europe, particularly for academics and professionals. Situated at the crossroads of the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany, the city offers outstanding connectivity. Brussels, Aachen, Liège, Cologne, Amsterdam, and Paris are all easily reachable by train or car, and several major international airports are within convenient distance. Despite this connectivity, Maastricht offers a calm pace of life, excellent safety, beautiful historic architecture, a lively café and cultural scene, and outstanding cycling infrastructure. It combines an international academic environment with a human, welcoming scale. Optional Car Exchange There is an optional possibility of a car exchange. The car available is a Suzuki Vitara, automatic, 4WD, well maintained, reliable, and carefully looked after. Any car exchange would be discussed openly and agreed upon in advance. This exchange would be well suited to someone on sabbatical, academic leave, or an extended European stay, who values trust, communication, and respectful care of a home. I would be happy to share further details, photos, and to arrange a video call. I look forward to the possibility of a thoughtful and mutually beneficial home exchange. Warm regards, Uma
