Top floor flat in the old West side of Reykjavik

Description

The space is a bright and well organized three room (two bedroom) apartment on the top (4th) floor. The kitchen and living room are one open space, divided by a kitchen counter. The living room has a nice view to the South-East and a small balcony. Neat bathroom with a shower. The apartment has two bedrooms. They are both spacious with sky-light windows as they are located under the eaves. The main bedroom has a king size bed and the second bedroom has a single bed. Washing and drying facilities along with bicycle storage are in a common area in the basement. Please note that there is no elevator in the building. While the neighborhood has no private parking, the apartment is located in the old West side of Reykjavik, in a walking distance from all necessary services and the city center. Two of the few remaining corner shops are in the area: Kjötborg and Pétursbúð. Few minutes walk to University of Iceland, Landakot church and park, Reykjavik lake (Tjörnin), Hljómskálagarður park, and the city center. Ten minutes walk to the Reykjavik harbor, the local swimming pool (Vesturbæjarlaug) and Melabúðin grocery shop. Grandi with its variety of services is also in walking distance. Same goes for Hallgrimskirkja church which can also be seen out of our living room window. Walking/biking distance and or easy public transport to Reykjavik University, The Icelandic University of Arts etc. We are two academics, both at the University of Iceland, who live in this flat with our 4 year old daughter. We stay in the city during the winter, but are out in the field during the summer. We would be happy to share local tips about the city and its surroundings, as well as other cool places to see and which Icelandic books to read.
