It was built originally in the late 18th century, and renovated around 1840, when also the adjacent neo-classical chapel of Santa Filomena, still part of the property, was added. The complex was then the home of a renown scholar of divinity, philosophy and mathematics: Agostino Tagliaferri (1822-1896), a follower and friend of the more famous Antonio Rosmini. This mansion was recently restored with earthquake proofing, and without altering its original features, including the beautiful ceilings decorated with allegorical figures. The section available for short rentals is accessed from a grand staircase made of local stone, has high ceilings, a large bedroom with original furniture, frescoed ceiling, and a new bathroom; a spacious living/dining room; a stylish large kitchen with freestanding marble counter and modern appliances.
