Wibke and I have been hosting on Sabbatical Homes for 18 months now. Over this time we've been pleased to have a range of academics stay with us from Europe, North America, and Australia/NZ - all of whom have thoroughly enjoyed their time at the Green House. We would love to welcome to our refreshed two-bedroom terrace in Carlton (125 sqm), just a short walk to The University of Melbourne (<10 mins) and the Melbourne Medical Research Hub (WEHI, Florey, Doherty, Peter Mac, Royal Melbourne, CSL, et al). The house has everything you need for a comfortable stay and can accomodate up to four for longer durations and six for shorter periods (via sofa bed). Children are very welcome. It’s full of natural light and includes two large bedrooms; one with a queen sized bed, the other with a single that can transform into king size (we can arrange based on your preference). The kitchen is new and includes a central bench / breakfast bar area, which is a great connecting spot. There's an outside courtyard (~20 sqm), which includes a dining setting and BBQ. There is a writing desk in the second bedroom, with a computer monitor. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots and pans, cutlery and crockery - everything you’ll need to cook and feel at home. There’s an induction electric stove top, electric oven, fridge, and microwave in the kitchen. The living room has a flat screen TV, DVD player, Bluetooth connected speaker, and an assortment of board games and DVDs. There is wifi coverage throughout the house. A small array of books are kept in the first bedroom. The combined bathroom and laundry is large and has a washing machine and drying rack. There is a shower, but no bath, The house has ducted heating throughout and an air conditioner in the main living/dining/kitchen area. The house was originally constructed in 1874 and is located in a charming heritage listed cobblestone street - one of the very few still in Melbourne. There is a wonderful little community in the street. Very close to public transport (tram and bus), both less than two minutes walk away, the house is brilliantly positioned. Proximate to the iconic cafe, dining and shopping strips of Brunswick St in Fitzroy and Lygon St in Carlton - while Rathdowne Village in Carlton North is very close - all are around a five minute walk away. The CBD is also within walking distance - you can get to the centre of town in around 30 minutes. Bike paths surround the area and are highly accessible. There are a multitude of parks nearby, including the Carlton Gardens - home of the Royal Exhibition Buildings (site of the World Expo in 1880 and Australian Federation in 1901), Melbourne Museum and IMAX. I’m a Uni Melb graduate and still involved via Masters level program advisory work at the university. We’d love to welcome you. Please reach out if you’re interested. Aron & Wibke
