I'm an assistant professor at George Mason University looking for a responsible tenant to rent my furnished 1-bedroom condo in Capitol Hill East while I am away on leave during the 2024-2025 academic year. 9-month or 1-year lease is an option. The condo is recently renovated and on the top floor - one flight up from the lobby. It has a nice view of the surrounding neighborhood and gets a good cross breeze when the windows are open. Although the condo is not in the center of the city, it's very well connected by metro and bus and has easy access to major highways, so it's not bad getting around. It's in a fairly quiet part of Capitol Hill with lots of trees and historic rowhouses. It's one block to metro (silver/blue/orange) and many buses; easy street parking. The neighborhood is also very bikeable, which is my preferred mode of transit. Bike storage (with an optional bike included) is on the lower level of the building. The recently renovated kitchen includes new kitchen cabinets, quartz counters, tile floor, and new appliances including a counter-depth refrigerator, gas stove, compact dishwasher, above-range microwave, and an in-unit combo washer/dryer unit, along with all the standard kitchen appliances (food processor, instapot, coffee grinder, etc.). The renovated bathroom features penny-tile floors, stone top vanity, brass tone faucets and fixtures and a lighted vanity mirror. In-wall heat pump units cool the apartment in the summer and heat it in the winter. In addition to your in-unit washer/dryer, the building has a full-sized washer and dryer in the basement for larger loads. Packages are delivered to the secure foyer. The bedroom has a double bed, a dresser, and a smaller day bed, which can be moved to the living room when hosting overnight guests. There is a large closet in the bedroom and a smaller hall closet in the entry way, as well as a ton of additional storage space in the kitchen. The living room is furnished with a kitchen table and chairs, a standing desk, a smaller writing desk, a comfortable couch, an arm chair, high quality speakers and sound system, and soft lighting lamps. The kitchen is fully stocked, including spices, pots, pans, etc. The apartment has several houseplants, which you could optionally care for; I can also find someone else to take care of them if that's preferable. The Chelsea Condominium is a charming community of 15 units on a quiet street in Capitol Hill, less than a 3 minute walk to the Metro, 14 minute walk to Lincoln Park, and 24 minute walk to Eastern Market. There's easy access to Anacostia Riverwalk Trail and Kingman and Heritage Islands Park for biking and running enthusiasts. Cafes, restaurants and bars are around the corner and grocery stores (Safeway, Trader Joe's) are a short walk away. The neighborhood is family-friendly and you'll see a lot of young families out at Lincoln Park. Eastern Market turns into an outdoor farmer's and craft market every Saturday and Sunday, which I highly recommend. Gorgeous pollinator garden out front maintained by the building community. I'm happy to share more information about the space, share a video walkthrough, or give you a tour via video call.
