Room is In Central Berkeley, 1913 Victorian, Quiet, garden setting, set far back from the street so not visible from the street, secluded feel ,( yet walk score 83!), A 25 minute walk and 15 min bike to CAL Campus. Close to downtown, BART, (also equal distance to North Berkeley BART) Trader Joe's, all 15 min walks. There is a large Farmer's Market Saturday mornings below downtown 10 min walk A 10 minute walk to Strawberry Creek Park and the Hidden Cafe. very sweet park with a great cafe with WIFI, park is of the firsts in the nation to daylight creeks from the underground culverts. There is a City of Berkeley swimming pool just beyond Strawberry Park. I am starting a new household this year starting August. This is a shared house, very quiet, all rooms are nicely laid out. Happy to give a tour so you can see layout and garden! We sometimes share meals, like conversation, but are pretty busy and independent overall. Nice rhythm of solo and shared time. Rooming mostly with Grad students, Scholars. The room is upstairs with a huge skylight that can open and close. Great morning natural light. Room is furnished, double bed, dresser, desk, night table, Chair for reading. I also supply Ikea comforters and bedding, though can choose own. Window has view of redwoods in garden. There is a full bath upstairs, as well as another downstairs. Because the house was picked up and moved in the mid 90's into a deep lot of a front house, the infrastructure is modern to the age of the house, Great water pressure and large hot water tank, two can shower at same time. There is a brand new washing machine with all the fancy settings in the basement and a dryer that is on the ground floor, Basement has secure and dry bicycle storage and a door out to the driveway. Easy street parking if needed no permit required. It is a quiet street. Common rooms are pretty generously large, piano (welcome to use) in the living room also a wood burning fireplace. Dining room has nice long table.. Welcome to host friends, seats 6-8, just check in with the house Kitchen, Very well equipped. There is a dishwasher, albeit an older Bosch, need to be nice to it and it still works very nicely. The Ways of the House document explains more specifically the use and care of pans, appliances. the recycling etc. The main intent is to keep an easy flow so you can just begin cooking. There is shelving for everyone's pantry items; each of us gets a shelf to themselves. All is explained in the document in more detail mostly describes the common space courtesies .The once a month house cleaning is great! We garden together 3 or 4 x during the year and I serve everyone lunch as a thank you. Also as a household, we can if we like to have BBQ for friends and cohort or we all go for a walk to a nearby Thai temple for an amazing Sunday brunch . Garden has a tables, chairs, bbq. meant for enjoyment in California; the outdoors is nice almost year round. For group socials just check with everyone before planning. Rooming with Graduate students mostly, sometimes a visiting professor, research scholar and me, a landscape designer who owns the house and is semi retired. I enjoy an academic setting.and aim to provide a supportive setting if you enjoy peaceful surroundings where you can focus and like gardens, I am happy to have you join us!
