Do you need to detach, simplify and focus on writing for a week or two? Our place in Rawson, Gippsland, is the perfect retreat! The office has a beautiful restful view of the garden, paddock and bush with wildlife, Starlink high speed internet, and minimal other distractions. And there's another desk in the living room if you want a shared retreat. The house sleeps up to 8 (1 King, 1 Queen, 1 bunkroom) if you're a group or want people to join on the weekend. All usual appliances, front deck with outside table, BBQ in backyard. Lots of activities nearby - walking/hiking/biking/riding trails, offroading, Thompson river and smaller creeks for swimming and fishing, snow at Mt Baw Baw or Mt St Gwinear in winter 30-45min drive, Walhalla (with gold train and pub and blossoms/autumn leaves) 20min drive. Town centre 5min walk with general store (basics, post, cafe, bottle shop), basketball courts, swimming pool (open Dec-Mar), footy/cricket ovals, skate park. Bigger towns of Moe and Traralgon are 30min drive down to the valley to restock or get train to Melbourne.

Comments: As an academic myself, I love working at Rawson. I'm also super productive when up here. The quiet and the lovely views help with concentration, and then when you're ready, loads of things to do on breaks - exploring, hiking, riding, you name it!
