I am a recently retired telecommunications electrical engineer. I worked at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, CA. JPL is managed by Caltech for NASA to perform robotic planetary exploration, Earth science and astrophysics. My husband, sadly now deceased, was a Professor in the medical school at UCLA. We have both worked in or around universities for many years and enjoyed interacting with students and academics in all stages of learning. I’ve lived in the Hancock Park area of Los Angeles for ~ 35 years and have friends and acquaintances here. My husband and I raised our two children here. They now live outside California but I visit them and their families often. I have two fabulous conures, called Dinah and Lulu, who are very endearing and mischievous. I am a social person who enjoys hiking, bicycle riding, reading, and exploring Los Angeles. Recently I have become involved in environmental and energy legislation and policies and work with several local groups to promote impactful legislation and to inform our communities about the impact and cost of climate change and how to implement more sustainable life practices. I have two rooms, each with a private bathroom, available for rent in my house. I am looking for two graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, or visiting scholars to rent these rooms. The house was built in the 1920s and has large sunny rooms and big common spaces. The kitchen is fully equipment with cooking utensils and pots and pans. The living room is spacious and filled with light. The house has a big native garden in the front and a backyard with tables and chairs. Both areas are comfortable spots to eat, read, or enjoy time with friends. The laundry washer and dryer are off the garage. There are internet cables in both rooms and wifi. I am looking for people who enjoy living with others and sharing communal spaces. I would like everyone to feel comfortable when home and free to use the common spaces as they like. Over the last 3 years, I have had some wonderful people stay here and hope to find two great housemates this year.

University of California, Los Angeles
Larchmont Boulevard
Los Angeles
Comments: The house is in one of LA’s oldest districts filled with tree lined streets and houses. Walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops, book stores, yet near to LACMA & downtown. Public transportation is a block away.
Comments: The larger room is $900 / month. The smaller room is $800/ month. I have cleaners who will clean the bathrooms.
I have two conures (in the parrot family). When I am out of town, I'd like to see if the two housemates can take care of the birds: feed them 2 x a day, and change the paper at the bottom of the cage once every 4 days.
