Description

Welcome to our charming, light-filled 1890s Victorian home in the heart of Southeast Portland. Situated on a quiet, tree-lined corner lot, the house sits elevated from the street, offering privacy, calm, and sunlight throughout the day thanks to east, south, and west exposures. Recently repainted in a historically accurate five-color Victorian palette, the exterior is stunning and full of character. This is a peaceful, inspiring home—ideal for academics, writers, researchers, remote workers, or families seeking a long-term stay in one of Portland’s most desirable neighborhoods. Inside, the home is fully furnished and thoughtfully appointed. The primary bedroom features a king-sized bed, wonderful light, and two spacious walk-in closets, offering exceptional storage and comfort. The second bedroom includes its own desk, making it suitable for guests, children, study space, or additional work needs. A dedicated upstairs office provides a bright, quiet environment for focused work, writing, or creative projects, with natural light and garden views. The home offers three full bathrooms, including two with beautiful clawfoot tubs and one with a modern walk-in shower. The main floor includes a warm, inviting living room, a generous dining area, and a large, sunny kitchen equipped entirely with KitchenAid appliances—dishwasher, refrigerator, gas stovetop, and oven. The kitchen also includes a rice cooker, KitchenAid stand mixer, juicer, and other tools for those who love to cook. A greenhouse window filled with healthy plants brings in abundant light, and sliding doors open directly to the back deck and garden, creating a seamless indoor–outdoor flow. Entertainment amenities include a large-screen TV, a PlayStation 4, and a record player with a curated vinyl collection connected to an analog hi-fi system. Downstairs, the basement offers ample storage space along with a set of high-end washer and dryer units for your use. The garden is one of the home’s treasures: a private sanctuary with mature trees, stone patio, shady seating areas, and abundant greenery. Sunlight moves across the yard throughout the day, creating a peaceful, restorative environment for reading, writing, or relaxing. Monthly professional garden care is included. The backyard also contains a small, non-functional chicken coop that is decorative only—no poultry keeping allowed. Recent updates include a new high-efficiency furnace (2025), several newly replaced windows, extensive exterior carpentry restoration, and the full historic repaint, ensuring comfort, efficiency, and beauty. While the home does not have air conditioning, its exposures, elevation, shade, and airflow help keep it comfortable during summer. The Buckman neighborhood is walkable, friendly, and safe, with exceptionally welcoming neighbors. You’ll be close to cafés, restaurants, parks, grocery stores, gyms, shops, and public transportation. Bike access to Portland State University, OHSU, and Reed College is excellent. Street parking is easy; some nearby streets require permits, and we are happy to share tips on the best non-permit parking locations. The home is available fully furnished, with all utilities, high-speed internet, and monthly garden care included. Cleaning services can be arranged monthly or at the end of your stay. Minimum stay is 3 months, with preference for 12-month or multi-year tenants. This home has brought us great joy, and we hope it will offer the same comfort, creativity, and sense of peace to someone seeking a beautiful long-term home in Portland.
