We are seeking an individual, couple, or family who will treat our home and our senior dog with continuous care, respect, and attentiveness during our time away. This is a spacious, lived-in family home rather than a short-term rental, and we are looking for someone who values stability, calm, and mutual trust. A central part of this arrangement is caring for our dog. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys spending time with a dog and is comfortable taking responsibility during the entire stay for his daily care, including feeding, walks, companionship, and maintaining routines. Kindness, patience, and consistency matter more to us than prior “professional” experience. Because of our dog’s character and age, this arrangement requires someone who will be physically present in the home the vast majority of the time, including weekends. This would not be suitable for someone planning to outsource the care during extended absences or who sees dog care as an inconvenience. You are welcome to take the dog on outings or hikes, but this would not be suitable for someone planning extended absences during the stay or arranging outside caregivers. In exchange for this responsibility, the rent is significantly reduced compared to similar apartments in the area (non-negotiable). We see this as a reciprocal arrangement built on trust and shared care rather than a transactional pet-sitting setup. We are also looking for someone who will respect our condo as a home. This includes caring for the space thoughtfully, treating furnishings and belongings responsibly, and maintaining a generally tidy environment. The condo includes plants that need regular, light care. No special gardening skills are required, just attention and follow-through. The home is well-suited to a family, visiting academics, or professionals on sabbatical who are looking for space, comfort, and a sense of belonging in the neighborhood. The layout spans two levels, offering privacy and flexibility for work, family life, and quiet time. We value open communication and would hope for a good exchange before and during the stay so expectations feel clear on both sides.
