Perfect for one person or a couple, this lovely flat located in Stockwell/Nine Elms is only 4 minutes from Nine Elms underground station and 8 minutes from Stockwell underground station, with close proximity to the redeveloped Battersea Power Station complex and Nine Elms/Embassy Gardens, as well as to vibrant Brixton and leafy Clapham Common. I am Mark, and I have taught Film Studies at King’s College London for more than 25 years—I am on research leave for the first half of 2026, and so my flat is available for most of that. It is on the ninth floor of a ten-story block on the Lansdowne Green Estate, with secure fob entry from well-lit Wandsworth Road, two lifts in the lobby, and one very conscientious elderly neighbour on the same floor—it is exceedingly quiet owing to its being very high up and to the solidity of the building’s thick-walled brick construction. The flat has stunning views from its three aspects: Clapham Common to the south, Battersea Power Station and New Covent Garden to the west, and London Southbank stretching to the Shard at London Bridge to the north. The views to the west and north feature frequent model trainset-like trains winding through the Metropolis-esque Nine Elms and Embassy Gardens high rises! The layout of this high spec finished and stylishly furnished flat comprises a well-proportioned open plan sitting and dining room, well-equipped galley kitchen, generous hallway and closet, toilet/bathroom, and two double bedrooms with built-in closets. One bedroom currently serves as a study/guest room with day bed, but could possibly serve as a second bedroom for a child. Much of the furniture and objects and kitchenalia are mid-century modern. The flat is convenient for the British Library and most London universities. The underground train from Stockwell is only 8 stops direct to King’s Cross St. Pancras on the Victoria Line—door-to-door to the British Library is 30 minutes. Central London in 20 minutes via the underground from Nine Elms (Northern Line) to Leicester Square, or 25 minutes to Goodge Street (for UCL, SOAS, Senate House Library, etc.). There are also several bus route options. On foot, across Lambeth Bridge the Tate Britain is 20 minutes away, Sloane Square and Chelsea window shopping 25 minutes. My walk to work at King’s on the Strand is 45 minutes and almost entirely along the beautiful Thames Victoria Embankment past Westminster Palace, the London Eye and the Southbank Centre at Waterloo. Stockwell is known as Little Portugal, and the surrounding area boasts a wide range of specialist shops, grocers, restaurants, and cafes, with several of same in nearby Brixton as well as music venues and an arthouse cinema there and also in restaurant-laden Clapham and the Battersea Power Station complex. The new Nine Elms/Embassy Gardens development offers cafes and restaurants and bars too. Charming nearby parks include Larkhall Park and Vauxhall Park as well as the more expansive Battersea Park and Clapham Common. The location is exceptional for easy and fast travel for food and shopping and culture and entertainment in all directions.
