Very high ceilings 3.75 to 4.5m (12 to 15ft) are supported by large 50 x 50cm (15 x 15in) original beams. The attached floorplan shows a mezzanine that adds another 15m²/ 180sf. The apartment is fully furnished with some antique accents and modern amenities, built-in air conditioning, a washer/dryer, and a fully equipped kitchen. The bedroom has a queen-size bed and faces a side street, and the living area includes a corner office-desk. All four, double-pane glass windows ensure plenty of light throughout - three in the living area are 8ft high with typical Provençal external shutters. The bathroom has a full-size bathtub, the W.C is separate - sorry, no bidet! Central location, 150m/ 500ft from the Townhall's belfry or the Cours Mirabeau, near many open markets, restaurants, art exhibits, medieval churches, in the heart of the Old Town "vieille ville" of Aix-en-Provence, a cultural and university center. Aix counts ~150,000 residents, and is compact - it only takes a 20 min. walk from the center to any town edge. "La vieille ville" allows registered residents' cars at restricted hours, but parking garages are within 5-10 min. walking distance and a few are free at the town's edge. A major bus and local train station are just off centre-ville. The TGV (high-speed train) station is within a 20 min. bus or train ride and allows access to Paris in only 2 ½ hrs; a major airport is 25 min. away, Marseille 30 min. away, by car or bus.
