Aix counts ~150,000 residents, and is compact - it only takes a 20 min. walk from the center to any town edge. "La vieille ville" allows registered residents' cars at restricted hours, but parking garages are within 5-10 min. walking distance and a few are free at the town's edge. A major bus and local train station are just off centre-ville. The TGV (high-speed train) station is within a 20 min. bus or train ride and allows access to Paris in only 2 ½ hrs; a major airport is 25 min. away, Marseille 30 min. away, by car or bus. Comments: a) Kids forbidden in mezzanine because of insurance. b) As the French say, "à la tête du client", so we can accommodate a small pet as long as previously discussed and agreed upon. c) Walking streets but several nearby parking garages.
