4-bdrm NW Modern home in the forested hills S. of the University of Oregon

We are offering for rent this split level (3) Northwest Modern home in the forested hills of South Eugene, near the University of Oregon, while we are away traveling for about 4 months. It is spacious, warm, and features lots of natural light thanks to ample windows and skylights. Central heating and A/C will keep you comfortable whatever the weather. Comfortable, roomy bdrms: 2 downstairs (queen and dbl beds) with shared bathroom, and 1 on the main floor (single bed) with a full private bath (tub and shower). While you would have the use of the entire house, we would like to reserve the upstairs master bedrm/bath as private, even if we are not there, if you don't need a 4th bdrm. That upstairs suite has a queen bed and private bath if you do need that 4th bdrm. We designed our home for serious cooking and entertaining, and it features a large semi-open floor-plan on the main floor that includes living room, dining area, and a fully-equipped kitchen with a large island that separates working/cooking zones from social/entertaining areas. However, it is also a warm, cozy, and functional space even if just for you. The main level includes a large deck, accessible through the kitchen or the dining room, that is perfect for enjoying the beautiful Oregon summer while having your coffee or a meal outside. (When the rains start in October or early November, we'll probably ask our son to put the deck furniture away under the house for the season). The front porch has several steps up to the front door, but for everyday use, we enter through the garage at the back of the house, which requires only 3 steps up into the kitchen. Easy access from our home for biking and hiking. (Note: We live 1/2 mile up a hill, so if you're only a casual bicyclist, you may want to walk that last uphill part.) Only 4 miles and a 10-min drive from the University of Oregon and Bushnell University campuses and from downtown, and two nearby bus lines run to downtown and the campuses. Big box shopping is on the north side of Eugene -- north of the Willamette River -- but supermarket, neighborhood restaurants, a barbershop, a local medical clinic, the nearest gas station, and other local shops are as close as 1 to 2.5 miles. (Actually, nothing is very far away in Eugene -- it only takes 20 - 30 min's to drive from one edge of town to the other.) Also easy access to Interstate 5 and other state and local highways, so both the Coast and the Mountains are as close as a 1.5 to 2 hr drive; Portland is less than 2 hrs north on Interstate 5; and Corvallis, home of Oregon State University, is 1 hr's drive away. The Interstate and state highways also give you access to a ton of good wineries -- and scenic drives -- up and down the Willamette Valley and into other Oregon AVA's. Eugene is a cultural center, with its own symphony orchestra and chamber orchestra, several smaller ensemble groups, and numerous musical venues featuring well-known guest artists throughout the year. Live theater also is plentiful, with four rep companies (including the University and Lane Community College) and visiting company productions at the city's Hult Center theater. With the University and an active Osher Lifelong Learning Institute chapter for those who are retired, educational opportunities abound. We are open to extending your start or end dates for a reasonable period if you need. In that event, we will need to occupy the upstairs master suite and share the kitchen and living space with you during any extended time beyond the "available dates" listed here. Rent is negotiable in that event.
