Our home faces Midsummer Common with views from a raised terrace of the river and College boathouses to the north, and a small, walled garden facing south. It can be entered from either side. Access is from from a dead-end street so is totally quiet, yet is 10 mins. walk or 5 mins. bike ride from the centre. It is a 3-storey row-house completely re-built in 2006 to an architect's design and high-quality specification. There is residents' parking (City Council charge). The Common is unusual for being both a park and being grazed by cows in summer. It is also lively, and hosts the Guy Fawkes firework display (5 November) and Strawberry and Midsummer Fairs . You might consider going away during the last if you value quiet. On the other hand there is a Michelin star restaurant opposite. Going upstream the river towpath gives an alternative route into town, the colleges and Backs; going downstream leads to open countryside,
