Looking for family space in Strasbourg. Exchange to Charlotte NC possible!

Description

We are looking for a place within walking distance (15-20 minutes) to city center and/or the University. We are a family of 4 who have lived and renovated historic homes in North Carolina. We are both professors at University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I (Martha) have an interest in antiques, so my husband and children are all used to living in a home with delicate items that need care and attention. We are also very handy, do all of our home repairs - and restorations - ourselves, so can handle an old house, no problem. We would love a 3 bedroom in order to be able to have fseparate rooms for the teenagers (Our kids will be 17 and 15) We are also garden, plant and animal-lovers and would be happy to care for a garden, plants, and/or animals. We spent a year in Strasbourg in 22-23 as part of the U.S. Fulbright Scolars program and the University of Strasbourg Instititute of Advanced Study, collaborating with my colleagues at the University of Strasbourg on research related to how climate change is impacting why and how rocks fracture - which we know surprisingly little about! If you google "Missy & Geology" you will find me and my work. for this trip, I will be working some in the EU, visiting field sites and collaborating with colleagues in Italy. As a family, we hope to visit several friends in France and Strasbourg. We have a 3 br 3 bath home in Charlotte NC (car negotiable) - with 10 acres, and chickens. Charlotte is central (<3 h drive) to the mountains and the beach and many historic sites like Charleston SC. We would consider an exchange for a family that was comfortable with an older house.
