I grew up in Canada but I have strong roots in the UK. We enjoy visiting friends and family there for extended periods of time every year. We've been spending most of our time so far in Ventnor, Isle of Wight but we are also interested in exploring places further west on the mainland. I'm an independent academic and consultant so we have a good amount of flexibility in terms of location as well as timeframes. As our profile describes in more detail, we are a family of three and we live most of the year in a farmhouse in a small village in the French Jura. I’m a former UN Official who now teaches and consults. My wife Géraldine is a museum designer and a talented artist. We homeschool our exuberant six-year old son Sunay. We love our home in France but we also love exploring new places and learning about the world together as a family.

I’m a former UN Official and I spent three decades working primarily in conflict or postwar contexts. I left the UN in 2019, married a kind and talented French woman, Géraldine, and moved with her to a farmhouse in rural France. I now teach and consult on issues related to peace building, leadership, and organizational change. My primary academic affiliation is with Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada, where I’m an Adjunct Professor in the Master in Earth and Energy Resources Leadership program but I also teach courses in peace and conflict studies for the online Masters programs offered by the UN Institute for Training and Research in partnership with various European universities. I also spend part of every day homeschooling our exuberant six-year old son, Sunay. Since I mostly work remotely, as does Géraldine, and since we are homeschooling, we have the freedom (and strong desire) to spend part of every year living and learning in new environments. We’ve recently renovated the farmhouse to make it more suitable for sharing with guests from around the world. We love our home in the heart of the French Jura but we also yearn to explore the world with our son. Finally, all three of us are artists. I sing and play the drums; Géraldine is a talented pianist, museum designer, and photographer. Sunay loves all forms of artistic expression.
