We are seeking a cozy apartment in Uppsala that could serve as our home for a period. With more than a quarter of a century in academia, I see it as one big country without borders. Having lived in Finland, I know what it means to be an ideal tenant. My daughters, aged 10 and 14, speak Swedish, as they have attended a Swedish school in Helsinki for the past three years. I am open to moving in either in the autumn or in January. I will be working at the Department of Economic History.

I am an economic historian who defended a PhD in 2000 (St. Petersburg University) on Old Believer merchants in the 19th-century textile industry of Russia. In March 2022, I left Russia with my family as a protest against the war and have since continued my academic work abroad. For two years I was based at the University of Helsinki, and last year I held a short research project at Uppsala University, living in Kåbo. I had research stays in Berlin (Humboldt University), Lausanne (Switzerland), Göttingen (Germany), and New York (USA). My current research focuses on copper money in the 17th century in Europe and Asia. I have no harmful habits, am a non-smoker, and treat any place I live in with care and respect. My two daughters attend a Swedish school in Finland, and I hope they will integrate easily into the local community. I am actively learning Swedish, plan to take up cycling, and would be happy to find company for table tennis.
