Visiting Professor Seeking Quiet Furnished Apartment in Leiden (June–Sept)

My name is Prof. Jeries Khoury, and I teach Arabic and Islamic Studies at Tel Aviv University. I will spend 18 June – 30 September 2026 in the Netherlands on a sabbatical. My main academic host is the University of Amsterdam, but I will conduct most of my research in the Middle Eastern and Arabic collections at Leiden University Libraries, so I am seeking housing in Leiden or close by. I am looking for a quiet, furnished 1–2 bedroom apartment suitable for writing and research. I will be living alone for most of the stay, and my family may visit for one month. My preferred neighborhoods are Professorenwijk, Tuinstadwijk, Lage Mors, Oegstgeest, Voorschoten, or similar residential areas within cycling distance of Leiden Centraal and the University Library. Dates: • Arrival: 18–20 June 2026 • Departure: end of September 2026 • Some flexibility possible Budget: €1,300–€1,800 per month, depending on size and utilities. I am responsible, quiet, clean, and academically focused. I have completed several visiting scholar stays abroad and always take excellent care of the homes I live in. Non-smoker, no pets.
